There are many things a gardener can do to conceal unattractive features in a lawn or garden area.

Some features just can’t be moved, such as gas cylinders or fuel tanks. As they are often positioned prominently, your best bet is to obscure them with fence panels, trellises, or wooden screens. In turn, you can cover these screens and panels with climbing plants.

If you have a tree stump that cannot be ground down or pulled, cover it with climbing plants and turn it into an attractive, eye-catching garden feature.

An easily-movable container garden is a quick way to diguise drain or utility covers. Make sure the containers are lightweight and can be easily moved during emergencies.

A common eyesore is the compost bin. While some are constructed out of wood or other natural materials, some are necessarily made of plastic, or can be covered in messy or old materials such as plastic tarps or carpeting. Garbage cans, too, present a similar problem. You can work around these by planting individual shrubs or trees, or even a hedge around the entire compost or garbage area. You can also try a trellis or wooden fence panels covered with climbing plants; this will conceal while allowing access.
