Choosing over tile or hardwood floors is quickly becoming a popular choice for homeowners. There are aseveral reasons why carpet is being chosen over tile and hardwood, and it isn’t just for cost. Several reasons why people are choosing carpet is the wide variety of textures, colors, and designs available. Unlike hardwood flooring and tile, carpet reduces noise levels from the floor, is more comfortable to walk on, and provides great insulation from drafts especially for and cold climates.

Being mindful of the location of where the carpet will be installed, is important to make sure that you choose the right carpet. Will the carpet be in a ? In a room high in moisture? Will you spend time eating in the room? High traffic areas such as living rooms or hallways, are often better suited to a high-grade carpet that can withstand wear. High grade carpeting might cost you more upfront, but the benefit of longer wear normally outweighs the additional cost. For places like these, a high-quality hard twist or loop pile carpet is the better choice.

Choosing carpet for bedrooms is a little different. Who will be in the room? Children or parents? Children often spend more time in their bedrooms than adults do, which makes purchasing a higher grade carpet the best choice. You will also want to consider how comfortable the carpet will be. If children will be playing on the floor, a cut pile carpet is usually best because if feels soft to the touch. Bathrooms, dining rooms, and kitchens are usually not good areas for carpeting because of moisture and liquid spills. For these rooms its usually better to choose a floor surface that’s easy to clean, such as tile or linoleum.

Choose a carpet that matches your room’s current colors. Many people think that choosing dark-colored or patterned carpets will help to disguise dirt. The truth is that’s the carpet fiber is usually more of a factor in whether or not the dirt will hide well or not. Carpet patterns in their design may help hide unfortunate spills that have resisted cleaning. If you do choose to go with a pattern, keep in mind the space of your room as well. Larger patterns tend to make a room look smaller in size and more inviting. Smaller patterns create the illusion that the room is bigger, especially when combined with a color.

The life expectancy of your carpet depends on how carefully you maintain it. Never choose a carpet that will require more work than you can give to it. Get our Improve Your Home And Garden Online Video Series!
