Proportion and Balance
Is your home lacking one of the fundamental problems that many homes lack in their design? The biggest problem most of us have, even designers, is making sure that a rooms design is pleasing to the eye or that the aesthetics are correct. Many people wonder how to implement features so that they are proportionately in balance with the room and its surroundings.
The most common way is by using your eye, with trial and effort to determine the most successful and pleasing design. Being trained and schooled in measurement, proportion and balance the designer has more of an advantage over the typical homeowner. Homeowners ultimately have the upper hand, because we are the owners, and we know best what is going to fit within our lifestyle.
Most homeowners find design ideas while shopping for home furnishings. Many magazines, tv programs, videos, websites and other online resources are aimed at providing information on how to redesign living spaces. While it would be great to be able to hire an interior designer every time we wanted to make changes, for most homeowners this isn’t a reality. Consider several sources before deciding on your final design. Most home improvement stores and home furnishing stores have samples they will give you or allow you to check out and bring back. This is a good idea simply because there are so many choices to be made when decorating a room. Paint , carpet, draperies, linens and furnishings all need to be considered when making your room plan.
