With everyone working, going to school and participating in evening activities it’s hard to stay on top of home organization especially in the family room where everyone seems to congregate. It is the one room where things seem to remain where they are dropped. Items like school backpacks, sneakers, and cups and plates from everyone’s meals or snacks. This room is the catchall and really shows it. The key to good home organization is having storage systems for everything that tends to become cluttered.

The next morning they can bring the empty baskets back for another day.

Invest in some larger storage systems like shelving or cupboards to store movies, CD’s and board games. And most importantly, enforce home organization rules by denying TV or video games until homework is done and the family room is neat. This is the one room that is meant for the entire family to feel comfortable in and keeping it organized and uncluttered is the best way to relax.
